Little Britain Challenge Cup
The Little Britain Challenge Cup is the largest annual corporate yachting regatta in Europe! The racing, which is run by the Royal Yacht Squadron, is held over two days whilst the socials start on the Thursday and culminate on Sunday with the Trophy Breakfast when nearly 50 trophies are awarded - so plenty of time for networking and meeting up with friends old and new!
Peter Thompson, Steve Green and Phil Davis were all consultants for the Little Britain Office Development on the London Wall, when they founded The Little Britain Challenge Cup as fun event for the construction industry. Now entering its 17th year LBCC attracts 200+ entries and 1,000s of competitors from every area of the business, including architects, builders, engineers, surveyors and lawyers.
However, the LBCC also has a serious side in raising £100,000s for charities such as; the Jubilee Sailing Trust, Cirdan Sailing Trust (an association that provides sailing opportunities for disadvantaged young people) and local organisations like the Island Youth Centre Water Activities and the Cowes Sea Cadets.
For many of the companies taking part a lot of their crews have never sailed before, but the Little Britain Challenge Cup provides the ideal environment in which to experience the thrill of racing in the Solent, the most famous sailing waters in the world, on courses set by the most prestigious yacht club in the world. However, this does not mean that competition is not fierce. With famous names from the sailing world including Neal and Lisa McDonald and world yachtsman Harold Cudmore the rivalry between teams is bound to be electric!
