RACE1 KER 11.3 FORMALLY APPROVED
AS IRM ONE-DESIGN.

Press Release - 5 October 2001

The Race1 Ker 11.3 has been formally accepted by the RORC Rating Office as a one-design under IRM and standard certificates are being issued for all boats that have completed their class measurement. The standard IRM rating in class measurement trim is 1.050.

This means that once each new 11.3 has satisfactorily completed its class measurement, which includes being weighed and being brought up to class minimum weight, it will automatically be issued an IRM certificate with the class rating.

Mike Urwin, Technical Manager at the RORC Rating Office said:
" We are delighted to be able to approve the Race1 Ker 11.3 as an IRM One-Design. The success of this class is a very important boost for the IRM rule with 7 boats already on the water and several more under construction. A lot of work has gone in to produce a good set of class rules. The first 6 boats have been fully measured for IRM and we are now satisfied that compliance with the class rules is sufficient for issuance of a standard class IRM rating certificate.'

Philip Crebbin, a Director of Race1 Ltd and a member of the Race1 Ker 11.3 Rules Technical Committee commented:
“We really appreciate the work the Rating Office has put in to evaluate and advise on the Race1 Ker 11.3 class rules and now to approve the class formally as an IRM One-Design. This is an important development for the class, and we hope it will also be an important contribution to the success of the IRM Rule. The IRM rule is producing wonderful, fast boats that are an absolute pleasure to sail and race and deserves to be supported fully so that it can succeed on a wider basis.”
