REVISION IN RESULTS IN THE RACE1 SPONSORED
IRM CLASS IN THE HAMBLE WINTER SERIES 2001

Hamble River Sailing Club have now updated the results in the Race1 sponsored IRM Class in the Hamble Winter Series. It appears that Roaring Meg had not had the right finishing time used in the initial calculation of the corrected times in the first race on the last day. The right finishing time brings her up to 2nd on corrected time, behind Cracker and ahead of I-Site. As Cracker and I-Site, both Race1 Ker 11.3s with the same one-design IRM rating, finished only 3 boat lengths apart, this shows how closely fought the racing was in the IRM Class with the smaller Ker designed Roaring Meg correcting out between them.

For the overall results, I-Site dropping from 2nd to 3rd in that race drops her one point overall. As this race was one of the Farr 40 Too Steamy’s discards, her overall points total does not change. So instead of I-Site being one point ahead of Too Steamy, this means they now tie on overall points. The tie-break system then comes into play and Too Steamy wins this as she recorded more first places than I-Site.

Congratulations are therefore due to Nick Haig and the Too Steamy team for winning the series.

There is no change in the other overall results with the 11.3s El Gringo, Basic Cat, Fair Do’s V and Cracker remaining in third, fourth, fifth and sixth overall respectively.

What a fantastic series the IRM Class had with close exciting racing like this every week in fun-to-sail, top level grand prix racing boats!
