RACE1 KER 11.3's IN THE
ROUND THE ISLAND RACE 2002.

Press Release - 22 June, 2002

John Caulcutt, a former holder of the monohull record for the Round The Island race with his yacht "Maxima", is chartering the Race1 Ker 11.3 "El Gringo" for this year's race. He has invited to join the crew as a guest the current monohull record holder, Mike Slade, owner of "Leopard of London", making a rather interesting combination of talent for the race. El Gringo's owner, Nick Hartshorn, taking time out from the Commodore's Cup selection trials for the British team, will be navigating for the event with a number of the regular El Gringo crew also on board.

The National Champion Race1 Ker 11.3, Robbie Cameron-Davies's "I-Site", is under charter to Tony Clare, President of the International Soling Association. Only 3 weeks ago Clare recorded his best ever position of 9th overall in the Soling European Championships and he is also enjoying his move into sailing larger boats. Assisting him will be Race1's Philip Crebbin, skipper last year of the Race1 Ker 11.3 "On A High", and some of the regular I-Site crew. Jock Wishart, more known recently for his Polar explorations and following in Shackleton's footsteps, will be navigating.

Other Race1 Ker 11.3s in the race include Class Chairman Anthony Richards's "Minnie the Moocher" and John Shepherd's "Fair Do's V", both of whom are also competing for the British team in the Commodore's Cup.
